New polling in Pennsylvania shows Democrats in the lead in both the presidential and Senate races. According to a survey released Tuesday by Susquehanna Polling, Vice President Kamala Harris has opened a 4-point lead over former President Trump. Sen. Bob Casey (D-Pa.) also leads his Republican challenger, David McCormick.
The poll indicates Harris, who entered the presidential race just over a week ago following President Biden’s campaign suspension, garners 47% support from Pennsylvania voters, while Trump trails at 43%. Independent candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. captures 3% of the vote, with 7% undecided.
In the Senate race, Democratic incumbent Sen. Bob Casey is also leading his Republican opponent, David McCormick. Casey holds a 5-point advantage, with 47% of respondents backing him compared to 42% for McCormick. Ten percent of voters remain uncertain about their choice.
The poll also highlights that 50% of participants are highly enthusiastic about the upcoming presidential election.
Harris’s recent campaign surge is energizing Democratic supporters but has raised concerns for vulnerable Senate Democrats like Casey, who face GOP criticism over some of Harris’s controversial policy positions.
Conducted from July 22-28 with 600 likely voters, the survey places Harris’s lead within its 4% margin of error.
While it’s still early in the campaign following the Biden-Harris shift, Harris’s current standing is notably stronger in swing states like Pennsylvania compared to Biden’s performance. However, experts caution that the race remains fluid and competitive.
