In a chilling message posted on Truth Social, former President Donald Trump issued a stark warning to his political opponents, pledging to unleash a wave of prosecutions at levels” never seen before in our Country” if he wins the 2024 election.
Trump’s latest message targeted his political adversaries, urging them to “CEASE & DESIST.” He claims to be vigilantly monitoring the “Sanctity of the 2024 Presidential Election,” echoing debunked assertions about rampant cheating by Democrats during the last election, which he described as a “Disgrace to our Nation.”
He ominously declared that once he “WINS,” those he accuses of cheating will face severe consequences, including long prison sentences.
“CEASE & DESIST: I, together with many Attorneys and Legal Scholars, am watching the Sanctity of the 2024 Presidential Election very closely because I know, better than most, the rampant Cheating and Skullduggery that has taken place by the Democrats in the 2020 Presidential Election. It was a Disgrace to our Nation!,” Trump wrote.
“Therefore,” he continued, “the 2024 Election, where Votes have just started being cast, will be under the closest professional scrutiny and, WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again. We cannot let our Country further devolve into a Third World Nation, AND WE WON’T! Please beware that this legal exposure extends to Lawyers, Political Operatives, Donors, Illegal Voters, & Corrupt Election Officials. Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country.”
This is not an isolated incident. Trump has previously issued similar threats, and a recent NPR investigation reveals he has made over 100 threats to investigate and punish perceived enemies.
These threats have included calls for military tribunals for former President Barack Obama and former Congresswoman Liz Cheney, as well as targeting prosecutors and judges involved in the criminal cases against him.
The former president’s rhetoric raises alarm bells about his intent to weaponize the legal system against those he deems opponents, posing a significant risk to the integrity of democratic processes as the 2024 election approaches.
