Senator Mark Kelly of Arizona has announced that he’s getting rid of his Tesla, calling it a “rolling billboard” for Elon Musk.

In a video posted on X (formerly Twitter), Kelly said, “This is going to be my last trip in this car.”

Kelly explained that driving the Tesla made him feel like he was promoting Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, who has been in the spotlight recently for his role in leading the Department of Government Efficiency. This department has been responsible for cutting agencies and firing many government employees, including veterans.

He went on to say, “Elon Musk kind of turned out to be an a–hole, and I don’t want to drive a car built and designed by an a–hole.”

This move comes after a week of controversy involving Musk and Tesla. Earlier, President Donald Trump made headlines for purchasing a Tesla and setting up a “showroom” in the White House, which led to protests at Tesla dealerships around the country.

In response to these events, Senate Democrats asked the U.S. Office of Government Ethics to investigate whether Musk and Trump used their positions to promote Tesla.
