Bill O’Reilly, former Fox News star, has a clear warning for Donald Trump: Stay away from Elon Musk.
O’Reilly, in an appearance on NewsNation’s Cuomo, hosted by ex-CNN anchor Chris Cuomo, said Musk is “a short timer” and “just too hot.” He added, “You just can’t have a guy that hot.”
O’Reilly’s warning follows Musk’s failed attempt to sway Wisconsin voters, which ended in a major loss for conservative Brad Schimel in a crucial state Supreme Court race. This happened only months after Trump won the state in the presidential election.
Musk had visited Wisconsin to hold a town hall and rally, hoping to boost the political scene with his presence. Instead, his appearance seemed to hurt his image. The tech billionaire, who recently slashed federal jobs and restructured agencies through his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), believed his influence would be an asset, but the outcome suggested otherwise.
O’Reilly, who supports DOGE’s cost-cutting efforts, acknowledged that Musk had done a good job exposing government waste. However, he argued that “technicians should take over” from Musk. “You don’t need Elon to go out and sell [the cost-cutting initiative]. It’s sold,” said O’Reilly, who now runs No Spin News after leaving Fox.
Following the loss in Wisconsin and Musk’s declining approval ratings, Trump is reportedly backing off from relying on his billionaire adviser. O’Reilly predicted, “I think he’ll remain a Trump advisor, but I do think he’ll go back to the private sector.”
Despite this, a senior Trump administration official told Politico that anyone thinking Musk will disappear from Trump’s orbit is “fooling themselves.”
Trump himself praised Musk, calling him “fantastic, and he’s a patriot.” The president added, “I think he’ll stay for a certain period of time and then he’s going to want to get back to his businesses full time.”
Both O’Reilly and Cuomo were fired from Fox News and CNN, respectively, over sexual misconduct allegations.
