Rep. Dan Goldman Calls Out Republican Hypocrisy in Censuring Schiff

Democratic Representative Dan Goldman, of New York, delivered a scathing rebuke to House Republicans regarding their vote to censure Representative Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), mocking their party and calling out their lack of accountability. In his speech on the House floor, Goldman slammed his Republican colleagues while referencing Representative George Santos (R-N.Y.), who is facing federal charges including money laundering and fraud.
Addressing the Republicans, Goldman questioned, “One of my colleagues claims that ‘We will hold members accountable.’ Yet you are the party of George Santos. Who are you truly holding accountable?”
Goldman pointed out the hypocrisy of protecting an indicted and self-confessed liar like Santos while attempting to censure Schiff, who played a prominent role in the first impeachment of President Donald Trump and has been an outspoken critic of Trump.
Goldman further criticized the Republicans’ defense of Trump, dismissing their claims as projection and denouncing their actions as beneath the dignity of the House. He concluded his remarks by emphasizing the hollowness of the censure effort against Schiff, describing it as a “phony ploy to punish [him] for speaking truth to power.”
“It is remarkable that he, from his perch in Congress, can do all of that. Of course, he didn’t do any of that ― all he did was properly impeach the president of the United States for his gross abuse of power.”
Earlier in his speech, he sarcastically highlighted the perceived superhuman abilities attributed to Schiff by conservatives, emphasizing that Schiff had fulfilled his duty by properly impeaching the former president for his grave abuse of power.
“Boy, is Adam Schiff powerful. He can at once be the chairman of the Intelligence Committee, the special counsel investigating Donald Trump, manage and run the FBI, and be a judge ruling on [foreign intelligence] applications,” he said.
“It is remarkable that he, from his perch in Congress, can do all of that. Of course, he didn’t do any of that ― all he did was properly impeach the president of the United States for his gross abuse of power.”
In a tweet, Goldman reiterated his stance on the Republican-led censure, highlighting that it was an attempt to silence him for his unwavering commitment to truth.

This phony ploy to punish Adam Schiff for speaking truth to power is pathetic and beneath this body.
Coming from the party of George Santos, the Republicans should instead focus their attention inward rather than promote more lies about honorable public servants. pic.twitter.com/rBcsQHcq4s
