President Donald Trump is considering naming Fox News host Jeanine Pirro as interim U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C., according to ABC News. The move would sideline acting attorney Ed Martin, who has failed to gain enough Republican support for Senate confirmation.

The idea of Pirro, best known for her wild monologues on Fox and drinking scandals, immediately triggered a wave of disbelief and mockery.

“Oh god. It’s Pirro,” wrote legal analyst Allison Gill, echoing the sentiment across legal and political circles.

National security lawyer Bradley P. Moss summed up the reaction with a brutal dig: “Break out the breathalyzer.” The jab refers to Pirro’s 2020 on-air appearance, where she slurred her words and appeared disoriented. Pirro denied being intoxicated, but the moment was immortalized when Saturday Night Live cast Cecily Strong as a wine-soaked version of her, stumbling and yelling from behind the Fox News desk.

While some Trump allies called it an “outside the box” pick, critics weren’t buying it.

“Judge Jeanine does not drink. As for other substances, I have no idea,” said journalist Yashar Ali, who has long covered Fox News. Even he felt the need to clarify.

Beyond the spectacle, legal experts raised serious concerns about how the appointment would work.

“After the 120-day clock expires on Martin, you’re supposed to get the court appointing a U.S. attorney to serve until somebody is Senate-confirmed. I guess the theory is a new interim appointee resets that?” questioned elections lawyer Andy Craig.

The possible end-run around the law left others frustrated.

“Would really be nice if we had some senators to push back against this kind of thing,” said Lawfare’s Quinta Jurecic, who added that “we” refers to the people of the District of Columbia.

Her colleague Anna Bower called it simply: “Dumbest timeline, exhibit 10283843920193472901103.”

The ridicule kept coming.

“Just wait until you see the parties Pirro and Hegseth can throw,” joked professor Jacob Levy, referencing another Trump-aligned Fox host.

The Onion CEO Ben Collins reacted with blunt disbelief: “Holy s—,” he posted, mocking not just the story, but the ABC News photo that came with it.

And legal analyst Ken White landed the final punchline: “I welcome Post-Indictment Arraignment with a two-drink minimum.”

If Trump moves forward with Pirro, the appointment would shift a key legal office into the hands of one of his most loyal TV defenders—and possibly his most polarizing pick yet.
