A heated argument over hot sauce turned deadly in Denver, resulting in the arrest of a 19-year-old man on murder charges.
George Vigil was taken into custody on September 22 after police responded to a 911 call reporting a stabbing at a home on North Federal Boulevard. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was a frequent visitor to the residence, where he and Vigil had established a relationship.
The altercation reportedly began when the victim asked Vigil where the hot sauce was while preparing a sandwich. Tensions escalated when Vigil indicated the sauce was in his bedroom, leading to a heated argument that witnesses had to break up.
The affidavit details that the victim challenged Vigil, suggesting they “take this outside.” Eyewitnesses reported seeing Vigil produce a knife before the victim fell to the ground, bleeding from a stab wound.
During the urgent 911 call, a woman told the dispatcher, “I have someone stabbed,” while chaos erupted in the background. She described the victim’s injury and urgently requested an ambulance, highlighting the severity of the situation.
Emergency responders arrived to find the victim with critical injuries. He was rushed to Denver Health Medical Center but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.
Vigil was identified as the suspect and was found with blood on his hands and clothing. He had no visible injuries and requested an attorney during his arrest.
Now facing charges of second-degree murder, Vigil appeared in court on Monday, where a judge ordered him held without bond.
The investigation remains ongoing, according to Denver Police.
