Liz Cheney has strongly condemned Donald Trump for his repeated attacks on a judge’s daughter, accusing him of fueling violence with his inflammatory remarks.
Trump’s recent posts on Truth Social targeting Loren Merchan, the daughter of the judge presiding over his upcoming hush money trial, have drawn sharp criticism from Cheney. Despite a gag order on discussing witnesses and court personnel, Trump has continued to assail Merchan, alleging bias due to her connections with Democrats.
Cheney, known for her outspoken criticism of Trump within the Republican Party, denounced his behavior as calculated and dangerous, asserting that his actions are intended to incite harm against Merchan and her father, the judge. She contends that Trump’s actions underscore his unfitness for any public office.
“Trump is repeatedly and maliciously attacking a judge’s daughter on social media,” The former U.S. Representative wrote on X. “He knows this will bring threats of violence against her and the judge. Trump is depraved and unstable. This unconscionable behavior shows yet again why he is unfit for any office.”
Trump’s trial, slated to commence on April 15, revolves around allegations of orchestrating payments to conceal an extramarital affair during the 2016 election.
Threats against officials involved in Trump’s legal proceedings have been reported, including death threats against the Manhattan District Attorney and security concerns for judges in various cases across the country.
