Former Republican congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene unloaded on Donald Trump Sunday after sharing a screenshot of an apparent campaign email that opened with a seemingly innocent question: “Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor, did I do something wrong?”
Greene proceeded to lay out her grievances with the “snake” president in a scathing social media takedown.
“So yes, actually you did do something wrong President Trump, let’s first start with your broken campaign promises,” she wrote in a lengthy takedown posted to X.
The former MAGA loyalist proceeded to rip into Trump over everything from the Jeffrey Epstein files to the war in Iran, the cost of living and the devastation in Gaza.
It’s quite a reversal for Greene, who once counted herself among Trump’s most devoted supporters. Their relationship has deteriorated amid her demands that the administration release files related to Epstein, the late convicted sex offender whose connections to powerful figures have fueled years of scrutiny.
Greene accused Trump of protecting his “pedophile rapists friends” while continuing to refuse to release the Epstein files.
She then turned to the war in Iran, describing it as an “unprovoked,” “stupid” conflict that she said had cost American lives and devastated U.S. military assets across the Middle East.
Greene cited the deaths of 21 U.S. service members and hundreds of others wounded, while accusing Trump of repeatedly declaring victory despite the conflict’s toll.
The war, she argued, has also damaged American military bases and destroyed or depleted vast amounts of military equipment and ammunition.
The former congresswoman didn’t stop at foreign policy.
She also accused Trump of failing to deliver the affordable cost of living he promised Americans, taking aim at an issue that has become a major source of political frustration.
Then came Gaza. Greene attacked Trump for what she described as “supporting, funding and aiding” a genocide, echoing allegations made by various experts and rights advocates, which Israel has disputed.
After laying out her grievances, Greene delivered her verdict.
“So did you do something wrong? Yes in summary,” she wrote.
Then she reached for one of Trump’s own favorite metaphors.
“YOU are the snake that you warned us all about in the poem you read over and over,” Greene declared, referring to the poem Trump has repeatedly used at rallies to portray an ungrateful person as a snake.
“You never cared about putting America first or making America great again. You are the deep state, the Epstein class, and America last.”
And she finished with a blunt admission: “And my mistake was supporting you in the first place.”
Greene’s latest broadside is part of a wider rupture between Trump and some of the conservatives who once helped champion him.
Earlier this year, she publicly distanced herself from the Republican Party, writing in June that she and “a lot” of others were fed up with the GOP.
“That does not mean we are turning into Democrats either,” she wrote. “But we are DONE with the America LAST Republican Party.”
Her break with Trump has also unfolded alongside conversations with conservative commentator Tucker Carlson and other right-wing figures about a possible new political “movement.” Carlson, too, has clashed with Trump, including over the war in Iran.
The disagreements point to a growing divide among conservatives who once rallied behind Trump’s promise to put America first but now accuse him of abandoning that agenda.
