On Sunday, President Donald Trump was asked whether he would be comfortable living in a world where Ukraine no longer exists as a sovereign nation, given that he could have done more to help during the ongoing war with Russia. Trump responded by suggesting that Ukraine might not survive the war regardless of how much the U.S. intervenes. He then shifted the conversation by placing blame on President Joe Biden for the current situation.

During an interview on Sunday Morning Futures, host Maria Bartiromo discussed various issues with Trump, including his controversial foreign policy stance. Recently, Trump has blamed Ukraine for provoking Russia, suggested that Ukraine’s leader should have been removed from the White House, and even suspended military aid to Kyiv.

Bartiromo, aware of Trump’s position on Ukraine, pressed him on whether Ukraine could survive without U.S. help. She recalled a conversation she had with the President of Poland, Andrzej Duda, who expressed great respect for Trump. Bartiromo shared Duda’s concern: “Without the United States, do you believe that Europe is capable of offering meaningful security to Ukraine?” She then asked Trump if he was comfortable with the idea that Ukraine may not survive without American support.

Trump responded, “Well, it may not survive anyway. But, you know, we have some weaknesses with Russia. You know, it takes two. Look. It was not going to happen. That war, and it happened. So now we’re stuck with this mess. Think of what [Joe Biden] stuck me with. Open borders, where 21 million people came into our country, many of whom should not be here. Many are criminals. Many, many are criminals. Many murderers. Murderers, drug dealers, drug lords. We got that. We have the whole mess with Israel on October 7th. We have all of the ramifications from the worst and dumbest withdrawal in history.”

Bartiromo then noted that both Ukraine and Israel had been attacked by aggressors and asked if America was treating both countries and their aggressors in the same way. Trump replied, “I think so.” She followed up by asking if he was favoring one country over the other. Trump explained that the situations were very different. “They’re very different places. Okay. Very, very different. You’re talking about different levels of power. You’re talking about different parts of the world. The Middle East has been under attack forever. When you look, when wasn’t it under attack? And then we came along and did the Abraham Accords, which was unheard of.”

Bartiromo pressed further, asking if Trump had been as tough on Russia as he had been on Hamas. Trump responded that he would have been much tougher on Hamas, but that it was Israel’s responsibility to handle them. “Well, I’d be much tougher because I haven’t done to Hamas. That’s been Israel that has to do to them. But Israel does. Tell me what’s going on. I think I’ve been very tough on Russia. Tougher than anybody’s ever been to Russia, if you think about it.”

Trump then went on a tangent about the “Russia hoax,” the Hunter Biden “laptop from hell,” and attacked Senator Adam Schiff and other Democrats as “low lives.”
