President Donald Trump announced Sunday evening that right-wing commentator Dan Bongino will be the next Deputy Director of the FBI. Bongino will serve alongside FBI Director Kash Patel.

Bongino, a former Fox News host and popular conservative podcaster, has been a strong supporter of Trump throughout the 2024 election. He is also a close ally of Patel, who was confirmed as FBI Director earlier this week. Bongino’s appointment shows that Trump is bringing in loyal allies to reshape the leadership of the agency.

Trump shared the news in a post on Truth Social, where he praised Bongino’s character, saying, “He has a great wife, Paula, and two wonderful daughters who truly love their dad. What an incredible job Dan will do!!!”

Bongino will report directly to Attorney General Pam Bondi, who represented Trump during his first impeachment trial.

In his post, Trump highlighted Bongino’s background, mentioning his service in the New York Police Department and the U.S. Secret Service. He also noted Bongino’s success as a podcaster. “Dan has a Masters Degree in Psychology from C.U.N.Y., and an MBA from Penn State,” Trump wrote. “He was a member of the New York Police Department (New York’s Finest!), a highly respected Special Agent with the United States Secret Service, and is now one of the most successful Podcasters in the Country.”

Trump also emphasized that Bongino is stepping away from his successful podcast career to take on this new role. “Fairness, Justice, Law and Order will be brought back to America, and quickly,” Trump added. “Congratulations Dan!”
