In a display of his signature absurdity, former President Trump has decided to question the authenticity of Taylor Swift’s political leanings, pondering whether her liberalism is genuine or merely a theatrical performance while pointing out that Taylor is “unusually beautiful.”

Trump, known for his penchant for making bizarre statements, couldn’t resist commenting on Swift’s politics during an interview for the forthcoming book, “Apprentice in Wonderland: How Donald Trump and Mark Burnett Took America Through the Looking Glass,” from Variety co-Editor-in-Chief Ramin Setoodeh.

When asked about Swift, Trump’s first response was predictably superficial: “I think she’s beautiful — very beautiful!”

But then, in true Trump fashion, he veered into the realm of the nonsensical, questioning whether Swift’s liberal views were sincere or just a facade.

“But she is liberal, or is that just an act?” he asked Setoodeh. “She’s legitimately liberal? It’s not an act? It surprises me that a country star can be successful being liberal,” Trump said, before the author noted that Swift crossed over to pop music years ago.

Trump seemed genuinely perplexed by the idea of a successful country-pop star being liberal, despite Swift’s undeniable talent and commercial success. Ignoring her musical achievements, Trump reiterated his fixation on the 34-year-old songwriter’s appearance, describing her as “very beautiful, actually — unusually beautiful!”

“Don’t know it well,” he said of the “Eras” performer’s music.

“I hear she’s very talented,” Trump said before repeating his praise for her appearance.

Of course, Swift’s camp remained silent in response to Trump’s absurd remarks, perhaps wisely choosing not to dignify them with a response. Swift, who had largely stayed out of politics until 2018, made waves when she endorsed Democratic candidates in Tennessee and subsequently criticized Trump for “gaslighting the American public.”

Swift’s endorsement of Joe Biden in the 2020 presidential election further solidified her political stance, with her expressing hope that his leadership would facilitate healing in America. Even President Biden’s campaign reportedly sought Swift’s endorsement for the 2024 race, recognizing her influence in shaping public opinion.

Trump’s fixation on Swift’s liberalism as a potential facade is not only preposterous but also reveals a troubling mindset that equates beauty with conservative ideology. By implicitly suggesting that only conservative women can possess beauty, Trump exposes the absurdity of his own worldview and underscores his inability to appreciate the diversity of thought and beauty in the world.
