A pastor and Republican ward leader responsible for coordinating events within the Philadelphia chapter of the far-right group Moms for Liberty (M4L) has been identified as a registered sex offender with a felony conviction related to the sexual abuse of a 14-year-old boy.
According to a report from the Philadelphia Inquirer, Phillip Fisher Jr. pleaded guilty to this crime in 2012 when he was 25 years old and residing in Chicago.
Fisher, who is affiliated with the Republican party as a ward leader, also serves as a pastor at the Center of Universal Divinity in Olney. In 2020, children from his congregation collaborated on a mural in support of Donald Trump’s campaign at the church.
Sheila Armstrong, the chair of the Philadelphia Moms for Liberty chapter, acknowledged that Fisher volunteered at the national group’s 2023 summit in the city. Furthermore, Fisher had expressed intentions to volunteer at Armstrong’s autism nonprofit’s Christmas party. In response to the allegations, Fisher claimed that the charges against him were fabricated by the late conspiracy theorist Lyndon LaRouche’s Political Action Committee (PAC), where he had previously been employed.
