President Donald Trump launched a fierce attack on The Wall Street Journal Thursday, blasting the newspaper for criticizing his trade wars and accusing it of being “owned by the polluted thinking of the European Union.”

“The Globalist Wall Street Journal has no idea what they are doing or saying. They are owned by the polluted thinking of the European Union, which was formed for the primary purpose of ‘screwing’ the United States of America,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “Their thinking is antiquated and weak, and very bad for the USA. But have no fear, we will WIN on everything!!! Egg prices are down, oil is down, interest rates are down, and TARIFF RELATED MONEY IS POURING INTO THE UNITED STATES. ‘The only thing you have to fear, is fear itself!’”

Trump’s fury came after the Journal ran another scathing editorial on Wednesday, attacking his trade policies. The piece mocked Trump over House Republicans’ refusal to take a direct vote on his tariffs.

“GOP House leaders are no doubt trying to protect Members in swing districts where Mr. Trump’s tariffs are unpopular,” the Journal pointed out. “Meantime, only 37% of voters approve of Mr. Trump’s handling of the economy, which is striking given this was a large reason he was elected. Voters gave him a mandate to restore broad-based prosperity and lift real wages that had eroded under Mr. Biden’s inflation. But most Americans understand that tariffs are a tax on consumers and businesses.”

The editorial also warned that Republicans may try to avoid tough votes now, but they can’t hide from voters in 2026, who will likely turn against Trump’s tariffs.

In earlier pieces, the Journal has called for someone to “sue” Trump over his tariff policies and sharply criticized him for pardoning January 6 rioters, stripping security details from former officials, and “rehabilitating” Russian President Vladimir Putin.
