Donald Trump apparently has plenty of free time on his hands. Instead of focusing on the job, the president spent part of his week posting a bizarre AI-generated video portraying himself as a doctor who “treats” celebrities for what he calls “Trump Derangement Syndrome.”
The 90-second clip, uploaded to Truth Social late Wednesday, features an AI version of Trump in a white lab coat confidently diagnosing some of his favorite political punching bags—including Whoopi Goldberg, Robert De Niro, Julia Roberts, Rosie O’Donnell, Edward Norton and John Leguizamo.
“Have you or someone you know been diagnosed with TDS?” the AI Trump asks with complete seriousness. “The symptoms can be relentless. Fortunately, I’m Doctor Trump, and I have a treatment plan.”
From there, the video launches into a fake infomercial in which AI-generated versions of the celebrities confess to supposedly suffering from years of anti-Trump hysteria.
The fake Robert De Niro claims he “couldn’t eat” or “sleep” and made everyone around him miserable. AI Julia Roberts says she’s “aged 20 years in the last two years.” The digital Rosie O’Donnell says she’s been “suffering for over a decade,” while the computer-generated Whoopi Goldberg declares she thought she was a “lost cause.”
After nearly a minute and a half of this fantasy therapy session, “Doctor Trump” finally unveils his miracle cure.
“Turn off fake news,” he says. “Say your prayers and, if you ever feel anxious, just have a Diet Coke like me and you’re gonna see a remarkable difference in your life.”
The video revolves around Trump’s long-running obsession with what he calls “Trump Derangement Syndrome”, his favorite catchall insult for anyone who criticizes him, questions him, investigates him, fact-checks him or simply refuses to tell him he’s a genius. Earlier this year, Trump even claimed from the Oval Office that he’d heard the made-up condition “actually is a disease.”
Ironically, for someone who insists everyone else is obsessed with him, Trump seems remarkably unable to stop thinking about the celebrities who don’t like him.
The featured stars have all criticized Trump publicly over the years. Robert De Niro has repeatedly described him as an “existential threat to our freedoms and security.” Rosie O’Donnell has been feuding with Trump since 2006. Whoopi Goldberg has warned that Trump wants to become a “dictator for life,” while Julia Roberts narrated a 2024 ad encouraging women to vote according to their own beliefs—even if it meant voting for Kamala Harris instead of following their husbands’ political preferences.
Trump has spent years insisting that his critics are the ones consumed by him.
Then he logged onto Truth Social and posted an AI video in which he cast himself as the world’s greatest doctor, complete with imaginary celebrity patients whose biggest problem is supposedly not loving Donald Trump enough.
Sometimes the punchline writes itself.
