During an appearance on CNN, former Trump White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham said the former president doesn’t actually want the surveillance footage of the FBI search of his Mar-a-Lago residence, insisting that “if there was incriminating evidence that FBI agents acted improperly during the search, Trump would have already released the footage captured by his security cameras.”
Grisham, who served as Trump’s White House press secretary and the former first lady’s chief of staff before resigning on January 6, 2021, told CNN that she is not “surprised” Trump has not yet released the CCTV footage from the search “only because I don’t think there is anything there.”
“I think Donald Trump would have released it already. He doesn’t listen to his lawyers, he doesn’t listen to who’s around him,” she said in an interview published Thursday. “If he wanted it released, it would be released by now.”
“I think what we would see is hardworking FBI agents doing their jobs,” Grisham continued. “I think if there was video of them ransacking rooms or stealing items like Donald Trump has purported that would be out there,” she said.
Grisham also said that someone “very close” to tipped off the FBI about the classified documents before federal agents executed a search warrant on Mar-a-Lago.
