Sen. Susan Collins (R-ME), who was one of the few Republican senators that Democrats hoped would actually want to hold a fair impeachment trial, took to the Senate floor on Tuesday to give her reasons behind her vote to acquit Donald Trump.
According to Collins, one of the main reasons for her acquittal of Trump was that she excused former President Bill Clinton when he was impeached.
While she acknowledged that Trump exercised “poor judgment” by demanding Ukraine announce an investigation of former Vice President Joe Biden, it wasn’t an action unbefitting the United States presidency, she said.
