The Wall Street Journal reported on Thursday that any sites affiliated with Donald Trump have been removed from Shopify over the president’s promotion of violence.
According to the report, “stores run by the Trump organization and Trump’s campaign were taken off Shopify on Thursday for violating the company’s policy of supporting people who condone violence.”
Trumpstore.com and shop.donaldjtrump.com are permanently banned, the Journal reports.
This decision comes after Wednesday’s attacks on the Capitol from pro-Trump rioters who believed in Trump’s claims that the election was rigged.
“Shopify does not tolerate actions that incite violence,” a Shopify spokesperson told Business Insider. “Based on recent events, we have determined that the actions by President Donald J. Trump violate our Acceptable Use Policy, which prohibits promotion or support of organizations, platforms or people that threaten or condone violence to further a cause. As a result, we have terminated stores affiliated with President Trump.”
Trump released a video on Wednesday continuing to push conspiracy theories that the election was stolen from him while also calling his supporters “special” for fighting for him.
