Police responded to an active shooter situation at Abundant Life Christian School around 10:57 a.m. Officers immediately began helping those who were injured inside the school.

Authorities believe a young person, possibly a student, was responsible for the shooting. Police confirmed that the shooter is dead.

“Seven people were taken to nearby hospitals for treatment,” Chief Barnes said. “At least three of them have died, including the shooter.”

There were initial reports of four deaths, including the shooter, but the number was later corrected.

Police believe the shooter was a student at the school. The three people who died were among those who were sent to the hospital. Some of the injured have minor wounds, while others have life-threatening injuries.

More details will be shared later in a follow-up briefing. Police said they will inform families before releasing the names of the victims.

CNN reported that police said the shooter was “down,” and that children were among the injured.

Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers expressed his concern, saying he was closely monitoring the situation.

“We are praying for the kids, teachers, and everyone at Abundant Life Christian School as we wait for more information. We are also grateful for the first responders working hard to help,” Evers wrote in a post.
