Authorities in Philadelphia have identified the gunman behind a mass shooting incident that left five men dead and two children injured. The wounded children, aged 2 and 13, are currently in stable condition.

The suspected shooter, Kimbrady Carriker, is a 40-year-old resident of Philadelphia. Police described Carriker as a “firearm-obsessed computer nerd who had ‘aggressive approach to some things in life.'”

As reported by Forbes, “The suspected shooter—a 40-year-old man—surrendered in an alleyway after continuing to fire while being pursued by officers and was found wearing a bulletproof vest and was in possession of several magazines, an ‘AR-style’ rifle, a handgun and a police scanner.”

The victims of the shooting have been identified as Lashyd Merritt, 20; Dymir Stanton, 29; Ralph Moralis, 59; Daujan Brown, 15; and Joseph Wamah, Jr., 31. They were all shot multiple times, and the youngest victim was only 15 years old, according to police.

Two children, whose names have not been disclosed, suffered gunshot wounds to their legs and are in stable condition. Additionally, a 33-year-old woman and a two-year-old boy sustained injuries from shattered glass but are also listed as stable.

The motive for the shooting remains unknown, and it is unclear if there is any connection between the victims or between the victims and the suspect.

The incident took place late Monday night when a gunman wearing a bulletproof vest and carrying multiple rounds of ammunition opened fire.

Law enforcement agencies are actively investigating the shooting, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance footage to gather more information about the tragic incident.
