Obama Surprises Chicago Teachers With Video Call During Teacher Appreciation Week: ‘I Couldn’t Be More Thankful’

Chicago teachers were ecstatic this week when former President Barack Obama surprised them with one-on-one video chats to thank them during National Teacher Appreciation Week.

Obama, who has resided in Chicago for most of his life, decided to pay a virtual visit to teachers in the area who have been teaching online during the lockdown.

Their expressions say it all.

Obama took to Twitter to share a video of his conference calls.

He wrote the following:

“There’s no limit to the devotion I’ve seen in teachers like these @ChiPubSchools educators. Their dedication shapes the best parts of who we become. I couldn’t be more thankful for their work, especially as they shift lessons online to keep students on track during this crisis.”
