Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell wants his followers to believe that Republicans are united in their defense of Donald Trump. However, there are signs of rebellion in the Senate that could bring down the impeachment firewall.
On Monday, Utah Senator Mitt Romney (R) said that he will not side with McConnell on having a witnessless trial.
Romney told Bloomberg News on Monday that he wants to hear what former National Security Advisor John Bolton has to say after he announced that he was willing to testify if subpoenaed.
“He has first-hand information,” Romney acknowledged.
“I’d like to hear what he has to say,” Romney explained.
He stopped short of vowing to vote with Democrats on the question, cryptically saying, “time will tell.”
