A woman walking her dog interrupted a live Newsmax interview by spitting on Donald Trump’s acting U.S. attorney for D.C., Ed Martin — and the MAGA crowd went into full meltdown mode.
The woman recognized Martin and walked straight up to him during the broadcast. “You are Ed Martin!” she shouted, then spit on him and stormed off, throwing wild gestures behind her. A stunned Martin reacted on air, saying only, “Whoa!”
Martin is no stranger to controversy. As Trump’s acting top prosecutor in D.C., he’s been known for targeting groups critical of the former president and even praised a January 6 rioter who dressed up like Hitler — a move that caused Senate Republicans to back off his permanent nomination. Now, Trump is reportedly eyeing Fox News’ Jeanine Pirro for the job instead.
But after the incident, Trump loyalists online came out swinging.
Newsmax host Rob Schmitt, who was conducting the interview, fumed on social media: “This afternoon acting DC US Atty Ed Martin was spit on by a psychotic lib during our interview. Hope she’s ready for a nice stretch in jail.”
Far-right influencer Benny Johnson escalated the rhetoric: “A miserable single childless cat lady just walked up and spit on the Ed Martin on live television. This is assault. Arrest her.”
Podcaster Nick Sortor didn’t hold back either: “JUST IN: An unhinged leftist was caught on camera SPITTING ON DC US Attorney Ed Martin. She just assaulted a U.S. official. I hope she’s ready for $50,000 in legal fees and prison time.”
Even Derrick Evans — a convicted January 6 rioter — chimed in: “Left wing extremist just SPIT on acting DC US Atty Ed Martin. Then again, our RINOs in the Senate metaphorically spit on him as well.”
The woman’s identity has not been released, and there’s been no official word yet on whether she’ll face charges.
