An Australian man has been charged with murder after allegedly sawing off another man’s leg in a far north Queensland park as part of an “arrangement” between the two, according to The Guardian.
The 66-year-old man succumbed to his wounds after his leg was amputated by his 36-year-old acquaintance using a circular saw owned by the deceased.
Local authorities said the men drove together to the park before 4 am on Saturday and sat under a tree before the amputation took place. After cutting the older man’s leg below the knee, the younger man reportedly helped the older man back into the vehicle and then fled the scene.
The older man was found dead in the car sometime later.
Authorities could not offer any more details on the nature of the alleged arrangement, but Detective Acting Inspector Gary Hunter said Police are “still investigating” the nature of their relationship, The Guardian reported.
