GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn, who has called the LGBTQ community “filth” and recently set off a firestorm by claiming he had been invited to orgies by other D.C. lawmakers, is now scrambling to save face after a series of photos circulating on social media showing him wearing lingerie.
The North Carolina Republican has built a reputation on defending “family values.” But after the pictures were released by Politico, Cawthorn took to Twitter, saying, “I guess the left thinks goofy vacation photos during a game on a cruise (taken waaay before I ran for Congress) is going to somehow hurt me? They’re running out of things to throw at me…”
Cawthorn then encouraged his followers to “share your most embarrassing vacay pics in the replies.”
Instead of embarrassing photos, however, Twitter users his tweet triggered a slush of mockery that is still going strong.
