Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO) had been projected to easily beat Democratic candidate Adam Frisch and cruise to reelection in Colorado’s deep red 3rd District, which hasn’t elected a Democrat to Congress since 2008. But as of Friday, the race is still too close to call and it appears to be heading for an automatic recount.
Now, in a Trumpian fashion, Boebert is asking supporters for donations to help with the recount, which will cost nothing to her.
“I told you all year, the Left would do everything that they possibly could to get rid of me,” Boebert wrote in a tweet.
“As this race comes down to every last vote, I need you to help us ensure we have the resources to finish what we started!”
Naturally, Twitter users quickly called her out for trying a final money-grabbing “scam” on her supporters.

She’s grifting on the idea of needing money for a recount when:
A.) the recount is going to be automatic and paid for by the state
B.) she’s currently up by 1100 votes with not many votes remaining (so she’s just stealing money from you under false pretense)
