Former White House national security adviser John Bolton claims in his new book that Vice President Pence knew about the delay of aid to Ukraine, which led to President Donald Trump’s impeachment, saying the vice president told him that “he had told the president the money should be released,” according to The Hill. Back in November, however, Pence denied being aware that the aid was being held.
During the impeachment hearings, Pence firmly denied US Ambassador to the EU Gordon Sondland’s testimony that he discussed with Pence President Trump’s efforts to pressure Ukraine to announce an investigation into former Vice President Joe Biden.
The Justice Department has sued to block Bolton’s publication of the book, claiming it contains classified information, but a federal court ruled last week that it can proceed on Tuesday as scheduled.
Pence’s office did not return a Daily Boulder request for comment.
