Fox News host Jesse Watters became the target of widespread mockery after sharing his five “rules for men,” which included no milkshakes and no soup.
His comments came in response to Minnesota Governor Tim Walz’s claim on Gavin Newsom’s podcast that MAGA supporters were “obsessed” with his masculinity during the 2024 presidential race.
“I have rules for men,” Watters said on The Five Wednesday. “They’re just funny, they’re not that serious.” He then went on to list the rules: “You don’t eat soup in public. You don’t cross your legs. You don’t drink from a straw. And one of the reasons you don’t drink from a straw is the way your lips purse. It’s very effeminate.”
Watters continued, referencing Walz’s explanation of why he had been drinking a milkshake: “His excuse was, ‘well I was drinking a milkshake.’ Again, you shouldn’t be drinking a milkshake. Milkshakes are for kids.”
He also added that real men “don’t wave simultaneously with two hands.”
“We wave with one hand, not both hands at the same time,” he said.
These comments quickly caught the attention of social media users, who had a field day poking fun at Watters. A photo of him drinking from a straw resurfaced, and many suggested that his strict list of rules revealed a deeper insecurity.
“The insecurity LMAO,” one person commented on X. “Just drink the milkshake, Jesse. Nobody cares.”
“Watters’ masculinity is so fragile, even a milkshake threatens it. Maybe he should focus less on straws and more on growing a spine,” another person wrote.
“Can Watters be any more insecure?” someone else posted. “If I want a god**** milkshake, I’m buying a milkshake.”
Others shared a 2016 photo of President Donald Trump, a figure Watters often supports, drinking from a straw, highlighting the hypocrisy of his remarks.

Watters’ diatribe came after Walz appeared on This is Gavin Newsom podcast, where he discussed how MAGA voters have attacked his masculinity. “No, I’m serious, because they know I can fix a truck, they know I’m not bull****ting on this,” Walz told Newsom, who initially laughed.
Walz expressed his surprise at how much attention was given to his masculinity. “It just baffled me how much time they spent trying to attack me, that I was not masculine enough in their vision,” Walz added.
During the election, Watters frequently criticized Walz. In September, after Walz was spotted drinking a milkshake at a campaign stop, Watters went off about it on his show. “Women love masculinity, and women do not love Tim Walz, so that should just tell you about how masculine Tim Walz is. The other day you saw him with a vanilla ice cream shake. Had a straw in it,” Watters said. “Again, that tells you everything.”
