During Thursday’s episode of Morning Joe, co-host Jonathan Lemire revealed what really rattled President Donald Trump when it comes to Elon Musk—and it’s not the shocking Epstein claim.
In the 7 a.m. hour of the MSNBC show, the panel was digging into the latest chaos between Trump and Musk. While Musk raised eyebrows with an explosive post suggesting Trump was tied to Jeffrey Epstein, Lemire says that wasn’t what truly set off Trump’s inner circle.
The discussion kicked off when co-anchor Willie Geist asked Lemire, “because you’ve covered Trump more than anyone else here,” whether Trump would forgive Musk or make him pay.
“He doesn’t really like forgiveness,” Geist said. “I think once you get on his bad side, you’re on his bad side.”
Geist added that Musk had previously supported Trump, even promising a $100 million donation—though, as Geist noted, that check “has not been written.”
So where does this leave Trump and Musk?
“You’re right that Trump is not really in the forgiveness business,” Lemire said. “And the most grievous insult that Musk hurled yesterday was not about Jeffrey Epstein, but rather Musk taking credit for Trump’s win. That is where I think that people around the president—that may be a bridge too far.”
That’s the insult that reportedly got under Trump’s skin.
Musk had posted Thursday on X: “Time to drop the really big bomb: @realDonaldTrump is in the Epstein files. That is the real reason they have not been made public. Have a nice day, DJT!”
He followed it up with: “Mark this post for the future. The truth will come out.”
According to Lemire, that’s the one line Trump and his team may not forgive.
