‘IMPOSSIBLE’: Trump Melts Down After Judge Who Ruled Against Him is Assigned to Signal Chat Case

Donald Trump is once again attacking U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, calling him “disgraceful” after Boasberg was assigned to oversee a new case involving a Signal group chat. The chat, reportedly leaking sensitive war plans, involves Trump administration officials, including some of his closest allies.

Boasberg, who has made headlines for his involvement in other high-profile cases, was recently in the news for his handling of a case concerning the deportation of Venezuelan migrants linked to a gang. But now, he’s in the spotlight again for overseeing the Signal case, which Trump sees as an unfair move.

Trump took to Truth Social Thursday, writing, “How disgraceful is it that “Judge” James Boasberg has just been given a fourth “Trump Case,” something which is, statistically, IMPOSSIBLE.”

He added: There is no way for a Republican, especially a TRUMP REPUBLICAN, to win before him. He is Highly Conflicted, not only in his hatred of me — Massive Trump Derangement Syndrome! — but also, because of disqualifying family conflicts. Boasberg, who is the Chief Judge of the D.C. District Court, seems to be grabbing the “Trump Cases” all to himself, even though it is not supposed to happen that way.”

With this new case, Boasberg now has four lawsuits against Trump or his administration. The latest one was filed by American Oversight, a government watchdog group. The lawsuit claims that Trump officials broke the law by deleting Signal messages related to the 2022 attack on Houthi rebels in Yemen. These messages reportedly included details about the attack, including the time, location, and weapons used. The group argues the officials violated the Federal Records Act (FRA), which requires electronic records to be kept.

The issue arose when Atlantic Editor-in-Chief Jeffrey Goldberg was accidentally added to the Signal group chat and learned of the sensitive information. Some of the messages in the chat were set to delete after a week or four weeks, a violation of the 2021 amendment to the FRA that says such records must be preserved.

National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard have all acknowledged the error but have stopped short of apologizing. Trump himself has downplayed the incident.

After Boasberg was assigned to this case, Trump attacked him again. He had previously called for Boasberg’s impeachment after the judge blocked the administration’s use of a law from 1798 to speed up deportations.

In his post Thursday, Trump questioned whether judges are even chosen fairly anymore.

Boasberg was randomly assigned to each of the four Trump-related cases, and Trump’s complaint continues, saying that it’s nearly impossible to get a fair ruling in Washington. He criticized the courts in New York and D.C. for being “corrupt” and “radical.”

“Is there still such a thing as the “wheel,” where the Judges are chosen fairly, and at random? The good news is that it probably doesn’t matter, because it is virtually impossible for me to get an Honest Ruling in D.C. Our Nation’s Courts are broken, with New York and D.C. being the most preeminent of all in their Corruption and Radicalism,” Trump wrote.

The president ended his post by calling for an “immediate investigation” into what he claimed was a “rigged” system.
