Far right Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene has unleashed a scathing critique aimed at Fox News after being denied entry to a crucial post-debate event where she intended to represent Donald Trump.
Following the heated 2024 Republican presidential primary debate, the conservative network refused to let her enter the so-called spin room as a surrogate for Trump. The network’s stipulation was clear: only Trump surrogates tied to his debate participation were welcome. Greene was furious.
“Now, this is a Fox News-hosted debate, Brian, and they have something called the spin room, which is common at presidential debates,” the Georgia Republican said, visibly irritated. “I’m a surrogate for President Trump. I’m also a member of Congress.”
Greene, known for her unapologetic stance and congressional role, didn’t mince words. She slammed the proverbial door shut on her and other Trump allies like Matt Gaetz, decrying the move as nothing short of “censorship” orchestrated by Fox News. She emphasized that this exclusion stifled the free expression of President Trump’s campaign message and silenced those who sought to back his cause.
“And I just want to go ahead and let you know, and for the audience listening, they just blocked us out,” she complained. “They would not allow myself, Matt Gaetz, any other Trump surrogates to go into the spin room… So this is censorship from Fox News. This is censorship, not allowing surrogates for President Trump to go into the spin room.”
Despite Glenn’s attempts to redirect the conversation, Greene’s anger remained palpable.
“I’m still so mad that we just were blocked out,” Greene fumed. “I literally am furious.”
Greene took it a step further, drawing attention to President Trump’s impending legal battles tied to his claims about the 2020 election. This, she argued, was a further testament to the urgency of promoting his message.
“We have freedom of speech,” she insisted. “President Trump’s speech is constantly being canceled, Brian. He’s being arrested and indicted in Fulton County tomorrow because of his speech, because he said the election was stolen in 2020.”
“And now us as surrogates for President Trump supporting his candidacy, wanting to talk about his message in the spin room tonight have been censored and blocked out,” she added.
