House Republican Calls For Disbanding Of Coronavirus Taskforce Because It ‘Undermines’ Trump

Republican congressman Andy Biggs, from Arizona, is calling for the White House’s Covid-19 task force to be disbanded so that “President Trump’s message is not contradicted,” with Biggs claiming it is “imperative” the president is “not undermined in his mission to return our economy to greatness.”

Biggs, the chairman of the conservative House Freedom Caucus and one of many prominent Republicans who have recently lashed out at Fauci and other authorities, released a statement on Thursday afternoon celebrating the new job numbers and contending that the Administration’s own medical experts are interfering in the country’s economic recovery.

“Dr. Anthony Fauci and Dr. Deborah Birx continue to contradict many of President Trump’s stated goals and actions for returning to normalcy,” said Biggs.

Dr. Fauci, the nation’s top infectious-disease specialist, warned yesterday that the country was headed in the “wrong direction,” and urged increased caution.

On Wednesday, more than 50,00 new coronavirus cases were reported in the U.S, a single-day record.

Biggs’ home state of Arizona reported nearly 4,900 additional Covid cases and 88 new deaths on Wednesday, record highs in both categories.

As of Thursday, 2.7 million Americans have been infected by the virus, which has resulted in at least 128,400 deaths.

The United States accounts for less than 5% of the world’s population, yet the U.S. accounts for approximately 25% of the world’s Covid-19 cases and 25% of the coronavirus-related deaths, according to the latest Johns Hopkins data.

But it appears that by citing data related to increasing cases and hospitalizations, and the inherent hazards those spikes could present moving forward, Biggs feels that White House health experts are making Trump look bad.
