‘Grossly Incompetent’: Trump Press Sec. Mocked After Major Slip-Up ‘Undoing’ Key Policy

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt was ruthlessly mocked on Wednesday after yet another blunder during a press briefing.

Leavitt claimed that President Donald Trump is “committed to passing a big reconciliation package later this year,” which includes “ending no taxes on tips.”

Critics immediately jumped on the statement, pointing out that it sounded like an accidental double negative—directly contradicting Trump’s 2024 campaign promise to eliminate taxes on tips, a promise that still hasn’t been fulfilled.

Leavitt’s latest mistake follows a similar blunder from Monday, when she mistakenly said the Department of Justice would focus on “fighting law and order,” instead of “fighting for law and order.”

One user on X hit back, “Many people have problems with double negatives, but Karoline Leavitt seems to struggle with single negatives.”

Another posted on Bluesky, “So he is adding taxes to tips?”

Dr. Steven Quest chimed in, writing, “Hmm. It’s almost as if she’s completely unprepared and grossly incompetent.”

Another user on X mocked, “So not committed to ending taxes on tips, but committed to ending no taxes on tips. So he’s committed to ending his own policy that he never instituted in the first place. Got it.”

She is so snarky to the press in the room. Very rude and antagonistic. No wonder she lost her previous election. Try being nice to the people. When rightfully corrected say Thank you for your input.
