Democratic lawmakers are facing harsh criticism from Fox News figures for their call to halt the violence in the Middle East amid the intensifying conflict between Hamas and Israeli forces.
In the aftermath of terrorist attacks on Israel and retaliatory strikes in Gaza, Democratic Representative Ilhan Omar, of Minnesota condemned the attacks by Hamas while also advocating for an end to hostilities.
“Such senseless violence will only repeat the back-and-forth cycle we’ve seen, which we cannot allow to continue. We need to call for de-escalation and ceasefire. I will keep advocating for peace and justice throughout the Middle East,” Omar stated.
However, on Sunday, Fox News host Kayleigh McEnany blasted Omar’s appeal for a ceasefire and demanded Gaza be punished for the actions of Hamas.
“OK, 9/11 happens in this country, thousands of Americans dead. We went and got the Taliban. We went and got Osama bin Laden. She wants a ceasefire? No! Israel has to retaliate,” McEnany said.
McEnany also condemned Rep. Alexandria for calling for a deescalation of violence to save lives.
Other hosts concurred that Israel should “reduce Gaza to rubble.”
