Stephen Colbert didn’t miss a beat when President Donald Trump served up yet another social media head-scratcher this week.

During his trip through Asia, Trump posted — and then quickly deleted — two cryptic words on Truth Social. That’s all Colbert needed to pounce.

“Uh-oh!” the Late Show host exclaimed, reading the post aloud to his audience. “I spy a cognitive ― and when it comes to his brain, things are clearly going South Carerdddd.”

Colbert leaned into the moment, pronouncing each “d” for dramatic effect.

According to Colbert, Trump was probably trying to type “South Korea.” But in true Trump fashion, owning up to a typo isn’t part of the brand. “But he can never be wrong,” Colbert said, “so get ready for new world maps featuring South Carerdddd, North Carerdddd, The Fallopians and, of course, Japanaramadingdong.”

The bit came during Colbert’s Thursday night monologue, where he took aim not just at Trump’s typo but also his ongoing insistence that his mind is “as sharp as ever.”

While abroad, Trump bragged again about passing what he described as a “cognitive and aptitude” test — a test he’s repeatedly mentioned since 2020. But as Colbert pointed out, Trump was referring to the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, the same one that had him proudly rattling off “person, woman, man, camera, TV” four years ago.

The test isn’t an IQ or aptitude exam — it’s used to screen for signs of cognitive decline and dementia.

For someone so eager to prove his mental fitness, Trump’s latest typo might not be the endorsement he was hoping for.
