CNN anchor Kaitlan Collins took aim at Donald Trump’s supporters Thursday night, mocking them for what she called a “meltdown of their own making” over the so-called Epstein Files — and the growing calls from Trump loyalists to fire Attorney General Pam Bondi.
For years, Trump’s base and right-wing influencers have pushed conspiracy theories claiming there was a secret “client list” tied to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. They promised bombshells. They hyped a coming storm. But this week, the Trump-aligned Justice Department quietly said there’s no list, no more documents, and the case is closed.
Collins wasn’t surprised. She laid it out on The Source, pointing the finger at the same MAGA influencers who fueled the frenzy — and are now furious that Bondi didn’t deliver.
“Some of the same right-wing influencers who were invited to the White House… are now calling for Attorney General, Pam Bondi, to be fired,” Collins said.
Back in March, Bondi’s office put on a show. She released thick binders labeled “Epstein Files,” hinting they held explosive secrets. In reality, the binders were full of already-public information and redacted pages. Even hardcore Trump supporters were angry.
In a clip aired by Collins, MAGA personality Wheeler ripped into Bondi:
“This seems like unforgivable behavior. How could she give us those phase one binders that contained nothing, while bragging about the cover sheet that she made… and tell us that the SDNY had the real goods? …Only to now say, Sorry, there’s nothing. If I’m President Trump, I wouldn’t tolerate it. She’s a liability to him. She’s not worth it.”
Activist Laura Loomer didn’t hold back either:
“Resign for lying to the American people,” she posted.
Even Elon Musk chimed in with sarcasm after deleting a post that falsely suggested Trump was in the files:
“It’s no-one-has-been-arrested-o’clock again.”
But the real kicker came from the Justice Department itself. After years of letting the conspiracy theories simmer, they came out and declared: there’s no client list, and they won’t be releasing anything else.
The memo stated: “One of our highest priorities is combating child exploitation and bringing justice to victims. Perpetuating unfounded theories about Epstein serves neither of those ends.”
Collins closed by pointing out the obvious: the same people screaming cover-up are the ones who spread the hype to begin with. Now, as the whole thing falls apart, they’re looking for someone to blame — and Bondi’s on the chopping block.
“The President’s base is having a meltdown of its own making,” Collins said.
