On Tuesday, Democratic Representative Shri Thanedar took a major step toward impeachment, pushing for a House vote on his seven articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump.

Standing on the House floor, Thanedar called his impeachment articles “privileged,” forcing House Republican leaders to take action within two legislative days. Most expect them to introduce a motion to table the resolution, which would effectively kill it.

Thanedar’s articles accuse Trump of serious offenses, including obstruction of justice, bribery, corruption, and tyrannical overreach. He introduced the articles last month, and on Tuesday, he made a direct appeal for support.

“It’s time for us to take action,” Thanedar wrote on X, formerly Twitter. “I call on my colleagues from both sides of the aisle to support my Articles of Impeachment, stand up for this country, defend their oath, and protect the American people. It’s never the wrong time to stand up for our Constitution.”
