Rep. Jasmine Crockett of Texas has set MAGA world on fire after calling President Donald Trump a “thug” during a live MSNBC interview. The Democratic congresswoman didn’t hold back, blasting Trump for purging federal employees and pardoning January 6 rioters in the early days of his presidency.
Crockett, who represents Texas’ 30th District, ripped into Trump’s actions, accusing him of trying to destroy the federal government. When asked about Trump’s “cleansing” of the Department of Justice, she said, “The DOJ and the people he’s going after were simply doing their jobs, the problem is that Americans thought it was OK to take a full-fledged criminal and make him the President of the United States and then they want to act aghast when he does criminal things.”
The congresswoman didn’t stop there. She slammed Trump as “a thug” and warned, “If we don’t wake up, we may not have a United States.” She added, “Right now, he has only been successful at being a ‘Divider-in-chief.’”
The comments quickly sparked outrage from MAGA supporters, who took to X (formerly Twitter) to fire back. One user called Crockett “the lowest class and most vulgar person currently in Congress,” while another declared, “Texas should be ashamed of electing such a vile woman.” Yet another user called her “a dangerous Marxist.”
Crockett also took aim at Elon Musk’s influence over the U.S. government. In particular, she condemned Musk’s role in pressuring officials out of a key Treasury database containing sensitive federal employee information. Crockett raised concerns over the sudden and controversial access granted to Musk’s DOGE department, saying, “We still really don’t know what DOGE is in the first place.”
When asked why a political appointee like Musk had access to the Treasury payment system, she flatly responded: “There is no reason for any political appointee, if you can even call him that, to have this kind of access.”
Crockett’s no-nonsense interview resonated with some progressives, with supporters praising her fight against the system. One user said, “It’s starting to feel like Elizabeth Warren and Jasmine Crockett are the only ones to have some fight in them.” Another applauded her “fighting spirit” in calling out Musk’s actions.
Crockett, who’s been in office since January 2023, has a strong legal background and previously served in the Texas legislature. Her seat was once held by the late, legendary Congresswoman Eddie Bernice Johnson.
Crockett wasn’t alone in her criticism. Rep. Melanie Stansbury, who chairs the oversight committee, is also taking on Musk and his operations. She declared, “We’re prepared to fight back” against Musk and his companies, accusing them of violating laws, the Constitution, and undermining the federal workforce.
