The Madison School Shooter Was a 15-Year-Old Girl, And Died From Self-Inflicted Gunshot: Police

A 15-year-old girl opened fire at Abundant Life Christian School in Madison, Wisconsin, on Monday morning, killing a teacher and a classmate, and injuring six others. According to law enforcement, the shooter died at the scene from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

The incident occurred just before 11 a.m. at the private Christian school, which serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade. Police said the shooter, whose identity has not been released, was a student at the school.

Madison Police Chief Shon Barnes confirmed the deaths of a teacher and a student and stated that six others were injured, two of whom are in critical condition. The injuries ranged from minor to life-threatening, but the identities of the victims have not been disclosed.

“We are grieving today, not just for Madison, but for our entire country,” Barnes said in a press conference.

Police officers who responded to the scene did not discharge their firearms. Federal agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) have joined the investigation, assisting local authorities.

At this time, authorities have not released any details about a possible motive for the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.

Abundant Life Christian School serves around 300 students on its 28-acre campus. The shooting has shocked the local community and drawn responses from both state and national leaders.

Wisconsin Senator Ron Johnson expressed his condolences on social media, writing, “My sincere condolences and prayers for all the victims of the tragedy at Abundant Life Christian School.” Governor Tony Evers also offered his support, saying, “We are praying for the kids, educators, and entire Abundant Life school community.”

The White House confirmed that President Joe Biden has been briefed on the incident.
