A disturbing video circulated by an Iranian state-linked news outlet is now under investigation by the U.S. Secret Service after it appeared to threaten First Lady Melania Trump and the president’s son, Barron Trump.
The video, titled “Where to Kill Melania,” was published Monday by Iran’s Tasnim News Agency, a media organization widely associated with Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). It depicts a simulated motorcade carrying Melania Trump through the streets of New York City and calls on so-called “freedom fighters” to target her. The video ends with an ominous message directed at the president’s 20-year-old son: “Barron Trump, wait for us!”
The Secret Service confirmed it is taking the matter seriously.
“We are aware of the video,” Secret Service spokesperson Nate Herring told Newsweek. He said the agency investigates “anything that can be perceived as a threat toward our protectees.”
Herring declined to comment further, citing operational security. The White House has not publicly responded.
The video is the latest in a series of increasingly aggressive threats coming out of Iran as tensions between Washington and Tehran remain high.
Earlier this month, billboards in Tehran depicted Donald Trump lying in an open coffin. Another display featured Trump, Melania, and several of his children above coffins draped in American flags.
Crowds in the city of Mashhad have also been seen carrying banners reading, “We will kill Trump,” during funeral events following the death of Iran’s former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, who was killed in a U.S.-Israeli airstrike at the outset of the recent war.
Trump has repeatedly claimed Iran considers him its top assassination target.
Speaking to reporters earlier this month, he said, “I’m the No. 1, because they’re scum. That’s the way they act, and that’s the way they’ve done it for 47 years.”
He later joked that he preferred being “No. 1 on TikTok” before again asserting that Iran views him as its primary target.
Trump has also responded with threats of his own.
In a Truth Social post earlier this month, he claimed he had already ordered overwhelming military retaliation if Iran ever attempted to assassinate him.
“1000 Missiles are Locked and Loaded and aimed at the Islamic Republic of Iran,” Trump wrote, adding that thousands more would immediately follow if Iran acted against him.
The threatening video comes at an awkward moment diplomatically. Just days ago, Trump said the United States and Iran had resumed what he described as “friendly negotiations” after he paused two weeks of U.S. military strikes in an effort to restart a fragile peace process.
Now, with a state-linked Iranian outlet publicly circulating threats against the First Lady and Barron Trump, those already-tense relations appear to have taken another dangerous turn.
