On Monday, MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski were left in disbelief by Donald Trump’s closing remarks in the final weekend of the campaign.
The “Morning Joe,” hosts aired a supercut featuring the former president’s hoarse complaints about leaving the White House post-2020, his strange comments about his “beautiful white skin,” and claims of being “more Greek” than NBA star Giannis Antetokounmpo. Trump even went so far as to justify violence against journalists and simulated oral sex on a microphone.
Scarborough reacted with incredulity after the clip aired. “There’s so much to unpack here,” he said.
“First of all, he was asleep on his feet in one of those events, but he talked about America being horrible. He lied about, once again, spreading a big lie. He must be concerned about Pennsylvania, he keeps lying about Pennsylvania. Says he is the father of fertilization — I’m not exactly sure what that means — and then he did a graphic scene, like he was having oral sex with the microphone.”
Brzezinski was visibly disturbed, exclaiming, “Oh, my God!” as she covered her eyes.
Scarborough continued, highlighting that some social media platforms refused to share the content due to its obscenity. “It’s striking to see the contrast in messages. While Harris promotes hope and optimism, Trump leans into pessimism and grimness. Just two days after calling for Liz Cheney to be shot, he expresses indifference about violence toward the press.”
He noted that Trump seemed to be trudging through the final days of his campaign and pointed out a glaring absence in his message.
“There was one rally where he said, ‘Oh, all the seats are here,’ right? The cameraman panned around, and you saw all these empty seats,” Scarborough stated. “But I saw something else as he was talking about himself and his grievance. I saw people up in the stands with their arms, like, around empty seats, kind of looking around. It’s crazy, he never talks about them. He never talks about the people, he talks about himself.”
