In a chilling declaration on Saturday, former President Donald Trump vowed to unleash a wave of prosecutions against those he alleges committed fraud in the 2020 election, should he win in November. This marks one of Trump’s most explicit threats yet to retaliate against his perceived enemies.

Despite mounting evidence debunking his claims of a fraudulent 2020 election, Trump continues to peddle the narrative of a rigged system. He has accused Democrats of “rampant Cheating and Skullduggery” and promised that the 2024 election will be scrutinized more intensely than ever before.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared, “WHEN I WIN, those people that CHEATED will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law, which will include long term prison sentences so that this Depravity of Justice does not happen again.”

Trump’s rhetoric suggests that no one is safe from his retribution, with potential targets including lawyers, political operatives, donors, voters, and election officials. “Those involved in unscrupulous behavior will be sought out, caught, and prosecuted at levels, unfortunately, never seen before in our Country,” he warned.

His unsubstantiated claims of widespread fraud in the 2020 election, which he lost to President Biden, were uniformly rejected by courts, including the Supreme Court. The former president’s attempts to overturn the election results have led to multiple criminal indictments: in Georgia for efforts to reverse the state’s results and federally in Washington, D.C., for attempting to remain in power.

Ammar Moussa, spokesperson for Vice President Harris’s campaign, responded sharply: “Donald Trump told us he wants to be a dictator on day one. He said he wants to terminate the Constitution. Now he’s publicly promising to lock up his political enemies. And, now, he has the blueprint and Supreme Court to let him do whatever he wants. Take him seriously.”

Trump’s pledge to prosecute his opponents signals a dramatic escalation in his battle against those he blames for his loss, underscoring the severe implications of his potential return to power.
