In a chaotic on-air exchange, former President Donald Trump overwhelmed Fox News hosts Martha MacCallum and Bret Baier with a furious, unrelenting rant, leading the network to ultimately hang up on him.

Trump called into Fox News and Newsmax immediately following Vice President Kamala Harris’s Democratic National Convention speech on Thursday night. The former president launched a media blitz, targeting Harris and making a series of unsubstantiated claims as he attempted to dominate the airwaves.

During his interview on Fox News, Trump went on a lengthy tirade, falsely asserting that millions of people, including criminals and terrorists, had entered the U.S. due to what he described as Harris’s incompetence. Despite repeated attempts by MacCallum and Baier to regain control of the conversation, Trump continued his monologue, dismissing their interruptions and accusations.

“President Trump,” MacCallum interjected multiple times in vain, as Trump insisted on discussing Harris’s policies and attacking her. Baier’s attempts to interject with, “Mr. President,” were equally ineffective. After a prolonged struggle to end the interview, both hosts resorted to a polite but firm “thank you very much,” and ended the call hang up.

The abrupt end to the interview led to immediate reactions on social media. NBC News analyst Claire McCaskill remarked, “When you are trying to get off the phone with your poor neighbor who is not well,” while others described the incident as a “disaster” for Fox News, noting the network had to cut Trump off.

Trump’s media blitz continued as he called into Newsmax, where he made a peculiar invitation for the hosts to visit Caracas, Venezuela, claiming the city was safer than any location in the U.S. Despite attempts by Newsmax host Mercedes Schlapp to steer the conversation, Trump persisted with his critiques of Harris and her border policies.

This media frenzy followed Trump’s prolific activity on Truth Social during Harris’s DNC speech. Trump made a staggering 58 posts during the 38-minute address, labeling Harris as “Comrade Kamala Harris” and accusing her of “gaslighting” America.

In her speech, Harris outlined her plans for the economy, immigration, and abortion rights, while condemning Trump and MAGA Republicans. She also criticized Trump’s role in the January 6 Capitol riots and vowed to lead for “all Americans,” promising to create an “opportunity economy.” The convention concluded with enthusiastic cheers from the audience as Harris, her husband Doug Emhoff, and running mate Tim Walz took the stage.
