Elon Musk, the CEO of X (formerly Twitter), has come under fire for labeling Vice President Kamala Harris a “communist” in a recent social media post. Musk’s remarks were made in response to a video clip of Harris discussing the distinction between equality and equity. In the clip, Harris advocates for equity—ensuring that all citizens have fair access to opportunities and outcomes.
Musk criticized this stance, saying, “Kamala is quite literally a communist. She wants not merely equal opportunity, but equal outcomes.”
Musk’s critique comes on the heels of his lawsuit against advertisers who have pulled their support from X, previously known as Twitter, amid concerns about misinformation and right-wing propaganda. Musk is demanding that X be treated on par with other social media platforms.
Critics on Twitter quickly seized upon Musk’s remarks, accusing him of hypocrisy and questioning his motivations. One user remarked, “Elon has never been angrier in his whole life and we still have 90 days to go,” referring to the approaching presidential election and Musk’s apparent frustration with the political landscape.

Another user, @NoHolyScripture, condemned Musk for using his influential position to spread misinformation and incite division. “You’re abusing your enormously powerful position to misinform the masses, to inspiring antagonism,” the user wrote.
User @Pensandpages challenged Musk’s understanding of communism, asking, “You know dam well that is not communism. Is she proposing property ownership by the state only? Jobs created by the state as barter for rent and food? If she isn’t, then it’s not communism. Why do you choose to trash your image on the world stage for a criminal loser con man?”
A separate response urged Musk to reflect on his actions, saying, “Don’t be a Donald dick and do try & understand the importance of ‘Noblesse oblige.’”
