Former President Donald Trump unleashed a furious attack against President Joe Biden following Biden’s notable omission of Trump during his historic Oval Office address, focusing instead on his decision to step back from the 2024 presidential race.
In his televised speech, Biden emphasized the imperative of passing the torch to a new generation and prioritizing national unity over personal ambition.
“I revere this office, but I love my country more,” the president said. “It’s been the honor of my life to serve as your president. But in the defense of democracy, which is at stake, I think it’s more important than any title.”
While Biden praised Vice President Kamala Harris, whom he officially endorsed as the presumptive Democratic nominee, he conspicuously avoided any direct mention of Trump, alluding instead to the upcoming election as a pivotal moment for the nation.
‘America is at an inflection point’, Biden said – and must choose whether it is to ‘move forwards or backwards’. It’s clear who he was really talking about
In response, Trump, who had just concluded a campaign rally in North Carolina, took to Truth Social to criticize Biden’s address. He described it as “barely understandable” and condemned it as a disgrace to the nation.
“Crooked Joe Biden’s Oval Office speech was barely understandable, and sooo bad!” trump wrote.
He later followed up with another, angrier post, in which he wrote: “CROOKED JOE BIDEN AND LYIN’ KAMALA HARRIS ARE A GREAT EMBARRASSMENT TO AMERICA — THERE HAS NEVER BEEN A TIME LIKE THIS!”
