Following the assassination attempt on former President Donald Trump, Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) triggered widespread condemnation for her inflammatory remarks on X (formerly Twitter). Instead of urging unity, Greene accused the left of inciting civil conflict.

After the Butler, Pennsylvania incident, Greene tweeted, “The left wants a civil war. They have been trying to start one for years. These people are sick and evil.”

She continued, “All of us on the right want peace, security, equal justice, freedom, and prosperity for ALL Americans. Trying times ahead. Hold fast to your faith and God.”

Critics swiftly responded, highlighting the shooter’s right-wing affiliations and criticizing Greene for exacerbating divisions during a national crisis.

“Trump was shot at by a registered republican, you goon! You don’t want peace. You’re vile. You called for Nancy Pelosi to be hanged! You’re awful,” One user wrote.

“AGAIN…The shooter was a REPUBLICAN!!! The threat is NOT from Democrats. It’s coming from inside your party,” another shot back.

“Your behavior and rhetoric is repulsive. I can’t wait for you to lose and go away. True colors show after this near tragedy. Sad and shameful,” replied Nick Gelso.
