This week, MSNBC anchor Ayman Mohyeldin cautioned against dismissing Donald Trump’s recent threat to imprison his political adversaries if he regains the presidency, emphasizing that it’s not difficult to envision Trump actually acting on this threat.
Mohyeldin pointed to Trump’s track record, recalling his 2016 campaign promises to implement a ban on Muslims entering the United States, construct a border wall with Mexico, and work to overturn the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision, which protects abortion rights. Despite these promises initially appearing far-fetched and vengeful, Trump ultimately took action on all three.
“Seemed like absurd, vindictive moonshots at the time, but in some form or fashion, he in fact did carry out on all three of those campaign promises,” Mohyeldin said.
“So when Donald Trump says that he truly plans to lock up his political opponents, I for one take the man seriously,” he added.
