Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s appointment to the Supreme Court to replace Justice Stephen Breyer is now certain after Senate Republicans, Mitt Romney (Utah), Lisa Murkowski (Alaska) joined Democrats to vote for her confirmation. Sen. Susan Collins, of Maine, also announced her support for Jackson last week.

On Monday, the Senate Judiciary Committee ended in a party-line vote with all 11 Democrats voting in favor of President Joe Biden’s nominee while every Republican voted against her confirmation.

But Jackson received a boon after the three moderate Republicans announced their support for her confirmation.

During Jackson’s confirmation hearing was marred by some GOP senator’s theatrics and aggressively questioning of Ms. Jackson.

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) was notoriously dramatic, using his time during questioning to rant about how Democrats treated Justice Brett Kavanaugh during his hearing to justify his treatment of Ms. Jackson during her hearing.

“I don’t know how you question witnesses, I interrupt when I think they’re being evasive, I let them talk when they’re answering the question,” he said. He also complained about liberal organizations supporting her.

“If we get back the Senate and we’re in charge of this body and there’s judicial openings, we will talk to our colleagues on the other side, but if we were in charge she would not be before the committee,” he said.

In response, Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Dick Durbin slammed Graham and some of his GOP colleagues for constantly interrupting the judge and falsely “accusing her of vile things in front of her parents, her husband, and her children.”
