Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump will not comply with subpoenas issued by the New York attorney general’s office in a fraud investigation of their family-owned business, ABC News reports.
Trump’s eldest children were subpoenaed to testify by New York attorney general Letitia James as part of an ongoing civil investigation into the Trump Organization’s business practices, but the pair have refused to obey the order to appear.
Citing a document filed Monday, the news outlet reported that “a dispute has arisen between the OAG and the Individual Trump Parties regarding the Subpoenas.”
“The document, filed jointly by New York Attorney General Letitia James and an attorney for the Trump Organization, said Donald Trump Jr. and Ivanka Trump will now be named as respondents in James’ ongoing inquiry, which parallels a criminal investigation by the Manhattan District Attorney’s office,” the report says.
The criminal investigation has resulted in indictments against the Trump Organization and its longtime chief financial officer Allen Weisselberg on tax charges, but Donald Trump has avoided criminal charges and keeps denying any wrongdoing while attacking the investigation as politically motivated.
