Republicans Caught Deleting RNC Webpage Hailing Trump’s Deal With The Taliban — Here’s a Copy Of It

In an effort to shift blame from Donald Trump to Joe Biden over the situation in Afghanistan, Republicans are scrambling to get rid of anything that ties Trump to the chaos unfolding in the middle eastern country following the withdrawal of US troops. But their effort is proving to be futile.

As noted by Business Insider, the Republican National Committee (RNC) removed a page from its website that touted the Trump administration’s peace deal with the Taliban. But a copy of the page was quickly found in the internet archive site Wayback Machine and users proceeded to shared it across social media.

The archived paged shows a Sept. 15, 2020, post praising former President Trump’s “historic peace agreement with the Taliban.” The post is no longer on the RNC site.

In a tweet, RNC’s deputy chief of staff Mike Reed tried to explain the reason for the page being removed, saying the GOP committee had launched a new website and some posts haven’t been transferred yet.

“This is so dishonest. We launched a new website last week… some of the old posts haven’t been carried over yet,” Reed wrote. “Go look… all blog/research pieces from years ago aren’t there. But good try attempting to divert attention from the folks actually in charge of this disaster.”

But Twitter users weren’t buying it.

Taliban fighters entered the capital city of Kabul on Sunday, regaining control of Afghanistan for the first time in 20 years. Democrats and Republicans have been pointing fingers over who’s to blame for the quick collapse of the Afghan government amid the withdrawal of U.S. troops that former President Trump planned and Biden ordered earlier this year.
